p.5 and What it Takes
February 22, 2010
Happy Monday, everyone. This week's SF plug goes to "What it Takes," the new post-apocalyptic survival adventure comic strip (yes, strip) by KEZ. This one isn't very far in yet, but it shows tremendous potential. Art and writing are both solid (which is probably no surprise to anyone who's read her "War of Winds"), and the story looks to be going in interesting directions. If you're into the post-apocalyptic survival genre and like your stories with kickass female leads--and that's kickass females who don't look like lingerie models with guns--this one's for you. "What it Takes" is rated R for language and gore, to borrow KEZ's words.

On to "Cetiya." I like this page, mostly. Daven's desk is a surprisingly time-consuming thing to draw, even when it's small and in the background. It has become my arch-nemesis over the course of this scene. I've had a lot of fun writing this scene, since it's pretty much the first time we get to watch Daven and Nezumi interact with each other; I like the sort of big brother/little brother dynamic they have. I wonder, does that come across to my readers who don't know the characters as well as I do? I'd love to hear what you all think. ::points to comment box::

This week's incentive is the full draft layout for next week's page. Got some sexy glove-removal, got some righteous indignation... Very exciting. Check it.
